What Is Celiac Disease?
If eating foods with wheat, barley, or rye leaves you feeling unwell, it may be more than just a gluten intolerance; you could be dealing with celiac disease. This autoimmune condition causes the body to react to gluten as a threat, damaging the small intestine and interfering with nutrient absorption. Unlike gluten sensitivity or gluten allergy, celiac disease leads to lasting intestinal harm if not treated. Common celiac disease symptoms include bloating, diarrhea, weight loss, fatigue, and skin rashes. At Tayeb Gastroenterology & Associates, our team helps patients get the answers they need with expert testing and support. Connect with our practice in Rochester Hills, MI today to learn more about managing gluten-related conditions.
How Is Celiac Disease Diagnosed?
Testing for celiac disease typically begins with a blood test to check for specific antibodies that signal an immune reaction to gluten. If results suggest celiac disease, patients at Tayeb Gastroenterology & Associates may undergo an upper endoscopy with a small intestine biopsy to confirm the diagnosis. Once diagnosed, the most effective celiac disease treatments involve a strict, lifelong gluten-free diet to allow the intestinal lining to heal and prevent further damage. Our team of providers works closely with each patient to provide dietary guidance, monitor recovery, and manage symptoms for better long-term digestive health.

Our patients in Rochester Hills, MI receive individualized care and support to help them adapt to a gluten-free lifestyle. A few of the primary benefits of properly managing celiac disease include:

Tayeb Gastroenterology & Associates Reviews
Dr Farshadsefat is a great physician. Very respectful and genuinely caring physician who listens to patients and attends to their needs promptly. Very knowledgeable and skilled physician and goes above and beyond to care for his patients. He answers all inquiries and messages promptly and follows up.
I first met Dr. Seina when I was admitted in the hospital after struggling for two years with GI issues that had been undiagnosed. I immediately switched to him and couldn’t rave about his bedside manner and knowledge more. He listens, is prompt with his follow-up and thankfully got me on the right care plan. Highly recommend.
5 Stars + 5 Hearts a Perfect 10 .... I can not believe the self entitlement in the people who have left bad reviews. It's not just you! They take care of more people than you can imagine full heartedly. I would wait all day if I had to. These people care and oversee a great deal of management and treatment. I have to add how dare you judge the girls up front based on perspective! You're clueless about the extreme amount of work they do! FOR US ,FOR YOU! Be more understanding it's not a fast food drive thru! I am far from a perfect patient . I forget appointments , perhaps show up late or too early. They forgive, forget, and encourage! IF you're looking at the reviews in consideration of becoming a new patient, consider this. They could have easily turned me away on day 1 . They didn't. Instead , I I received the help and motivation to keep myself in the best shape possible without prejudice. Your bad experience or mishap doesn't belong here on Google. It is going to happen from time to time, and I know for a fact it won't help you feel better.
Dr. Jarbou’s office was very modern and clean. The staff was very nice and the PA was very knowledgable. Dr. Jarbou was very nice and comforting.
